Throughout 2008, the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) authorized 201 companies to provide electronic communications networks and services. Relative to 2007, the number of companies, authorized in 2008, declined by 26,6%. By the end of 2008 the total number of companies authorized by ANRCETI was 1209.

The Administrative Board of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology intends to summon a public Board meeting on January 31, in order to approve revised version of Regulations on Interconnection. A public Board meeting is consistent with the new communication strategy of the Agency, which tends to ensure transparent activity and to involve market participants in the decision-making process. The meeting is scheduled for 15.00 p.m., at the Agency office, 5th floor, Conference Room (134, Stefan cel Mare, bd.).

In 2008 the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) assigned over 778 thousand numbers to electronic communications service providers, requested by the latter for immediate use in service provision.
The Law on Electronic Communications defines such numbers as numbering resources. They are state property and subject to ANRCETI managements in compliance with the National Numbering Plan. The Agency is entitled to assign numbering resources to providers following the procedure of issuing licenses for the use of such resources.

Public consultations on draft Interconnection and Access Regulations continued at the office of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) on January 14 and 15, 2009. The consultation process was launched by the Agency back in December 2008, following the requests from electronic communications networks and service providers. The two January sessions were attended by 15 representatives from six companies, MOLDTELECOM, Orange Moldova, and MOLDCELL etc. among them.

THE National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) extended to January 20, 2009 the deadline for expressions of interest from audit companies, interested in performing financial audit of ANRCETI 2008 budget administration.
Previously, the Agency invited interested audit companies to submit their expressions of interest by January 15, 2009. The Agency would like to reiterate that in the audit company selection process, we it will seek companies with proven experience in performing financial audits of public institutions.

Two more mobile companies will provide 3G mobile services in 2009: JSC MOLDTELECOM, under UNITE brand, and JV EVENTIS MOBILE.
On December 30, 2008, the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) issued to JSC MOLDTELECOM a license for radio frequencies to be used for 3G mobile network and service provision and registered the application from company JV EVENTIS MOBILE for a 3G license.
