National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology of the Republic of Moldova

A team of specialists from the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI – www.anrceti.md) headed by Iurie Ursu, Deputy Director of ANRCETI, is taking part, September 15 to 17th, at a regional seminar in Odessa, Ukraine. The seminar is organized by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).

In the timeframe September 6 - 10, 2010, in Chisinau, a team of international experts from the EBRD technical assistance project offered to ANRCETI (www.anrceti.md) conducted several workshops focused on current issues for ANRCETI staff and representatives of several telecommunications companies of Moldova.

The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) is willing to assist the R. Moldova for the implementation of telephone number portability, the transition from analogue to digital television, for other projects related to communications and information technology development.

Today, August 17, the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI – www.anrceti.md) is celebrating its 10th anniversary. It was formed as a result of telecommunications restructuring, in the 90s, intended for the liberalization of the sector, promoting competition and creating modern infrastructure to ensure the integration of the national telecommunications networks with the European and international ones.

Tomorrow, August 17, it is 10 year since the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI - www.anrceti.md), a central public regulatory authority in one of the most dynamic sector of economy, was founded.

The National Agency for Regulation in Electronic Communication and Information Technology (ANRCETI – www.anrceti.md) is announcing withdrawal of Administrative Board Decisions on special ex-ante obligations imposed to JSC “Orange Moldova”, JSC „Moldcell”, JSC „Moldtelecom” in connection with the significant market power of those providers on the market for call termination on individual mobile networks, as well as imposed to JSC „Moldtelecom” as the company has significant market power on the market of fixed local, long-distance and international telephone services, provided on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.

In the first half-year of 2010 the number of fixed subscribers reached 1 million 150,9 thousand, exceeding by 1,9% the number recorded in the same timeframe of 2009, whereas the volume of fixed sales for these services was 918,4 million lei, a decrease by almost 1 percent (0,94%). In the first half of this year, the market for Internet access at fixed locations increased by 16.8 % over the same period last year, and totaled about 245.6 million lei, show the data provided by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI - www.anrceti.md).

After the moderate 4% growth in 2009, the mobile sector returned, in the first two quarters of 2010, to the dynamically ascending line of the previous years, shows a report of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI – www.anrceti.md) on the evolution of this market in the first half-year of 2010.

The Administrative Board of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI - www.anrceti.md) has approved today, August 3, 2010, the standard forms for publication and presentation of information on quality parameters in the provision of public electronic communications services. The board decision (doc. in state language) shall be published on the website of the Agency.
