In the timeframe between January and September 2017, the main indicators of the fixed broadband market continued its growing trends, as attested in recent years. In nine months, the number of fixed Internet subscribers increased by more than 16,7 thousand (+2,9%) up to a total of over 574,1 thousand, the revenue from these services increased, compared to the same period of 2016 by 99,3 million lei (+12,1%) and exceeded 923 million lei.

The statistical data on the evolution of the mobile broadband market in the nine months of 2017, aggregated by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), shows that in this timeframe, the main indicators of this market recorded the higher growth rates in the electronic communications sector of the country. The number of mobile broadband users (smart phones, modems/cards) increased by 26% and exceeded 2,4 million, the traffic increased by 27% up to 47 million 265 thousand GB and the total volume of sold services increased by 29% and amounted to 664,5 million lei.

The statistical data on the evolution of the fixed telephone market in the nine months of 2017, aggregated by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), show that during this time the voice traffic generated by fixed telephony users decreased by 13% to the value of 1 billion 205,4 million minutes. On average, one user monthly consumed two hours and 59 minutes, which is 9,6% less than in January - September 2016, a call lasting 2,3 minutes on average.

On November 24, the Deputy Director of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), Marian Pocaznoi, introduced the new ANRCETI Deputy Director, Andrei Muntean, at a staff meeting. He was appointed to this position by Government Decision no. 991 of 21.11.2017 for a period of four-year term of office.

The statistical data for mobile market in January - September 2017 show that the trends shaped out last year continue: a slight increase in the number of users and voice traffic in mobile networks and a decrease in providers' revenues on this market. Thus, in nine months, the number of users increased by more than 63,7 thousand (+1,4%) up to over 4 million 493 thousand (SIM cards), the volume of voice traffic increased compared to the same last year, by 11,4 million minutes (+0,2%) and amounted to 4 billion 640,5 million minutes, while the total volume of revenues decreased by more than 120,2 million lei (-4,6%) and equaled over 2 billion 519,4 million lei.

The National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) published on its official website the quality parameters for mobile and fixed telephony services, Internet and pay TV, as measured by the providers of these services in the third quarter of this year and ANRCETI Report on results of monitoring those parameters. The publication of these data aims to inform consumers about the quality of electronic communications services they are using or intend to use.

On Tuesday, September 12, ANRCETI Deputy Director Corneliu Jaloba and President of Council of the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries HAKOM, Drazen Lucic signed a Memorandum of Understanding and exchange of information in the electronic communications and postal services fields. The document was signed in Chisinau, during a working visit paid by Mr. Dragen Lucic, President of Council and Deputy President of Council, Mr. Domagoj Jurjević to ANRCETI.

In the first half of this year, the number of individuals and legal persons, who used the assistance of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), increased by more than 20% over the same period of last year, reaching 537, shows a Report on complaints reviewed by ANRCETI in the first semester of 2017. This increase was caused by a bigger number of requests for information of public interest, complaints, as well as requests for technical, legal and economic consultations in areas under ANRCETI competence.

In the first half of this year, ten entrepreneurs obtained the right to provide postal services under the general authorization regime, and seven – the right to provide public electronic communications networks and services. On June 30, 2017, the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) had a total of 38 entities registered in the Public Register of Postal Service Providers and 547 entities registered in the Public Register of Electronic Communications Network and Service Providers.

The National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) published on its official website the Guidelines on Access to Properties, which provides clarifications and recommendations for providers of public electronic communications networks, public entities of different levels, private owners and holders of physical infrastructure, for the application of the regime of access to public or private property and shared use of infrastructure associated with electronic communications networks. The document was developed by ANRCETI on pursuant to the provisions of the Law on access to properties and shared use of the infrastructure associated with public electronic communications networks (hereinafter "Law 28/2016"), in force since 15.04.2016.
