In the timeframe January - March 2018, the market for Internet access services at fixed locations continued to increase both in terms of number of subscribers and revenues. The statistical data, aggregated by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), show that during this period the number of subscribers to these services increased by over 6 thousand (+1%) and reached 590,4 thousand, the total revenues on this market segment increased by 17,3 million lei (+5,8%) and exceeded 315 million lei.

In the first quarter of 2018, the main indicators on fixed voice market continued to decline. The statistical data regarding the evolution of the fixed voice market in this timeframe, aggregated by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), show that the number of subscribers decreased by over 10,9 thousand (-0,96%), to a total of 1 million 133 thousand, the volume of voice traffic went down by 63,5 million minutes (-14,3%) and amounted to 379,7 million minutes and the volume of revenues dropped by 39,8 million lei (-21,8%), compared to the first quarter of 2017, coming to more than 143 million lei.

In the first quarter of 2018, the number of mobile broadband users (3G, 4G and modems/cards/USB - dedicated access) increased by 2,8% compared to the end of last year and exceeded 2 million 497,7 thousand, while penetration rate per 100 inhabitants reached 70,3%, as shown by the statistical data regarding the evolution of this market in the timeframe January - March 2018, processed by National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI).

Statistical data on the evolution of the mobile telephony market in the first quarter of 2018, aggregated by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), show that during this timeframe the total number of users dropped, compared to the end of 2017, by 28,5 thousand (-0,6%) and was estimated at 4 million 431,4 thousand, the volume of voice traffic decreased by 1,5% compared to the same period of 2017 and was 1 billion 496,2 million minutes, the total revenues of mobile telephony services decreased by 5,4% and to over 749,1 million lei.

The National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) recommends to providers of publicly available Internet services to develop and publish guidelines on how parents, legal representatives, pre-school and school administrators can self-regulate the service of filtering Internet content with negative impact on children. This is a provision of the Administrative Board Decision approving the Recommendations on self-regulation of the service of filtering Internet content with negative impact on children, a normative act that entered into force when published in the Official Gazette, on May 18, 2018.

The Statistical Report on the evolution of the postal service market in 2017, published by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) on its official website, shows that the value of the postal service market in the Republic of Moldova increased, compared to 2016, by 16 million 227,9 thousand lei (+5,3%) and reached 320 million 94,8 thousand lei.

According to the statistical data on the evolution of the pay TV market (cable and IPTV networks), aggregated by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) in 2017, the main indicators of this market slightly increased compared to 2016. Thus, the number of pay TV subscribers grew by about 53.7 thousand (+19.9%) and reached 323.7 thousand, while the total volume of revenues from these services reached 159.5 million lei, an increase by 7.7 million lei (+5.1%).

In 2017, the total number of fixed broadband subscribers increased by about 5% compared to 2016, up to 584.3 thousand, while the number of those who contracted high speed connections increased by 12.8% to over 335.1 thousand. The most important yearly evolution was attested on the segment of connections above 100 Mbps, their number increasing by 23%, up to about 40 thousand. Thus, the total number of subscribers decreased by about 27.4 thousand (-2.3%) compared to 2016 and shows 1 million 143.8 thousand, the total volume of traffic decreased by 236.1 million minutes (-12.9%) and reached 1 billion 587.8 million minutes, and the total volume of revenues from these services decreased by 180.6 million lei (-20.6%) and totaled 695 million 510.8 thousand lei.
