In a public session held on December 10, 2015, the Administrative Board of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) approved the decision to maintain the special ex-ante obligations previously imposed on Moldtelecom in connection with the company’s significant market power on the market of access to the public fixed telephone networks for residential and non-residential customers (Market 1), with a number of amendments. The obligations had been set by ANRCETI Administrative Board Decision no.12 of 25.05.2012.

The total sales in the electronic communications sector have steadily increased in all three quarters of this year. In the first two quarters the growth rate of this indicator was 7,5% and 0,7% accordingly and in the third quarter – 1,17% and reached 1 billion 800,9 million lei, shows the report of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) on the development of electronic communications market in the third quarter of 2015, which was published on ANRCETI’s official website. In nine months of 2015, the cumulative volume of sales increased over the same period of 2014 by 3% and reached 5 billion 245 million lei.

Statistical data on the evolution of pay TV market (IP and cable) in the nine months of 2015, aggregated by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) shows that the situation on this market segments developed differently: the IP TV service market continued to grow, while the cable TV market – to decline. This trend has become more prominent in the most recent four consecutive quarters.

On December 7 the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) issued "Orange Moldova", first mobile operator in Moldova, two new licenses for the right to use radio frequencies in the 800 MHz and e900 MHz bands for the provision of terrestrial cellular mobile communications services. The licenses were handed to the Director General of "Orange Moldova", Ludmila Climoc, by ANRCETI Director, Grigore Varanita.

In nine months of 2015, the majority of new subscribers to fixed Internet access services preferred to connect to the optical fiber networks, which provides high speed Internet access. The statistical data about the evolution of the fixed Internet access market published by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) show that in the reporting period the share of subscribers to fixed high speed Internet exceeded 50%.

In the third quarter of 2015, the number of fixed telephone subscribers and the voice traffic continued to decline, while there was a slight increase of revenue from these services, a trend that took shape in the first two quarters of this year. Thus, in three quarters, the number of fixed telephone subscribers dropped by 12,2 thousand (¬1%) since the end of 2014, showing 1 million 206,1 thousand.

The statistical data about the evolution of the market for mobile access to Internet in the nine months of 2015, aggregated by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), show that during this timeframe the number of users of these services increased by 3,7% up to over 1 million 750 thousand, the Internet traffic generated by them increased by 38% and constituted 28 million 229,9 GB, the providers’ revenues from these service increased by 19,5% and totaled over 429,5 million lei.

In the timeframe January - September 2015 the total volume of voice traffic in mobile networks increased compared to the same period of last year by about 5% and exceeded 4,7 billion minutes, while the average monthly traffic per user increased by 8,2% up to 225 minutes or three hours and 45 minutes. These are the main statistical data on the evolution of the mobile market, published by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and information Technology (ANRCETI) on its official website.
