On 1 April 2012, Moldova will switch over to the "closed" type of numbering plan, which provides for a new format of dialing the fixed telephone numbers. Thus, users of fixed telephone services will have to call fixed telephone numbers from their place of residence or other geographic zones of Moldova (municipalities, district) by dialing 9 digits (national prefix "0" + geographical area code + subscriber number) instead of 5 - 6 digits as it used to be to date. This was the message delivered during the today’s briefing (photo), by Sergiu Sitnic, Director of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI).

According to the data reported to the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), in 2011, the fixed telephone market underwent a slight increase in terms of number of subscribers against the descending sales of public services persisting during the recent four years. Thus, the number of subscribers reached 1 million 179,3 thousand – a 19 thousand (+1,38%) increase over 2010, whereas the volume of fixed telephone services was 1 billion 647,3 million lei, a decrease by 14,06%.

In 2011, the total number of mobile users increased by 17,4% over 2010 and exceeded 3 million 715 thousand, whereas the penetration mobile rate, per 100 people, increased by 15,5 percentage points and, for the first time in this country, reached 104,3%. These data, pertaining to the market evolution last year, are available with the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI).

On March 12 – 16, 2012, a group of specialists from the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) will take part in the TAIEX assistance program regarding harmonization of some regulatory aspects from Moldova to the norms applied in the European Union. The TAIEX Program is offered by the European Commission and supported by a team of experts from Lithuania.

The National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI – www.anrceti.md) is announcing about the extension of the public consultations (via its internet page) timeframes for Administrative Board Decisions, modifying and amending earlier Decisions no. 60-75 and 77-79 (all docs in state language) of 23.12.2010 and approving drafts (1, 2, 3 - docs in state language) of decisions on identification of the markets for access services to infrastructure associated to electronic communications networks and designation of providers with significant market power on these markets. The deadline for presentation of recommendations is March 26, 2012.

The National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) has placed on its Internet page, for public consultations, the draft (doc. in state language) Administrative Board decision which provides for the grid of scores to evaluate the criteria of selecting providers of electronic communications networks and services eligible to obtain licenses for the use of the following national short numbers: 116000, 116111 and 116123. The consultations are scheduled to last through March 7, 2012, this date being the deadline for comments and recommendations.

The consultation is scheduled to last through March 5, 2012, this being the deadline for comments and recommendations.
