National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology of the Republic of Moldova

The National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) published on its official website the Report on the evolution of the electronic communications market in the first qtr. of 2020. According to this Report, the total volume of revenues from electronic communications services (mobile and fixed voice, mobile and fixed broadband, audiovisual broadcasting, revenues from other activities in the field of electronic communications) was estimated at 1.5 billion lei (increased by 0.3%, compared to the first qtr. of 2019).

Statistical data on the evolution of the fixed broadband market, processed by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), show that in the timeframe January-March 2020, the total number of subscribers to these services increased compared to end of 2019, by 1.2% and was estimated at 678.4 thousand. The total volume of revenues in this sector increased, compared to the first quarter of 2019, by 2.4% and totaled 341.4 million lei.

The National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), launched today the web cartographic application "mobile Service Coverage Map_Road Quality". The meeting was moderated by Octavian Rau, ANRCETI Director and was attended by Sergiu Railean, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, as well as by representatives of the IP "National Radio Frequency Management Service", representatives of mobile communications providers Orange Moldova, Moldcell and Moldtelecom-Unite.

The total number of pay TV subscribers and the total volume of sales on this market increased in the first three months of 2020, according to the statistical data available with the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications regarding the evolution of this market.

The National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), with the support of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, announces the launch of the web mapping application "Mobile Service Coverage Map _Road Quality", which provides users with information on the quality of mobile services provided by companies Orange Moldova, Moldcell and Moldtelecom-Unite. The event will take place on June 19, 2020, at 10.00, online, by means of Zoom application.

In the first three months of 2020, mobile broadband traffic (3G, 4G and dedicated access technologies (via modems/cards/USB)) increased, compared to the same quarter of 2019, by 41.1% and reached GBP 33.5 million GB. The highest traffic growth rate - 63.4% - was recorded by users of smartphones, who generated 16.8 million GB traffic volume, while dedicated mobile broadband users consumed more by 24.1%, generating 16.7 million GB traffic. A user who accessed mobile broadband via smartphone generated 2.6 GB average monthly traffic (AUPU), increased by 48.2%, and a dedicated broadband user - 24.2GB average monthly traffic, increased by 30.5%.

The analysis of statistical data on the evolution of the fixed voice market in the first three months of this year, reported to ANRCETI by 24 fixed voice service providers, showed that the main indicators of this market continued to decline. Thus, the number of subscribers decreased, compared to the end of 2019, by 0.9% and was estimated at 1.06 million, the total voice traffic decreased, compared to the first quarter of 2019, by 11.8% and made 291.9 million minutes, and the total volume of sales decreased, compared to the same timeframe of last year, by 17.6% to 97.1 million lei.

Statistical data on the evolution of mobile voice market in the first quarter of 2020, aggregated by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), show that during this period, the volume of voice traffic in mobile networks increased, compared with the same timeframe of last year, by 2.4% and reached over 1.5 billion minutes, the total sales volume on this market segment increased by 0.7% and reached 746.4 million lei, and the total number of users of these services decreased, compared to the end of 2019, by 1.7% and was estimated at about 4.4 million.

Given the need to facilitate remote interaction of the authority with the business environment, including in the context of Covid-19 pandemic crisis, the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) encourages applicants seeking to obtain permissive acts for electronic communications initiate, conduct and/ or terminate activities in the field of to submit the notifications/applications and accompanying documents, as provided by the legislation in force, through the Single Window, which operates under the Automated Information System for Management and Issuance of Permissive Acts (SIA GEAP), approved Government Decision no. 550 from 13.06.2018.

Today, May 20 2020, the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), published on the website www.anrceti.md, for public consultations, the draft analysis of market for the access of end-users (individuals and legal entities) to the fixed location of public telephone network (Market 1) and the draft ANRCETI Board Decision on the measures to regulate this market. The deadline for submitting recommendations on these documents is 12 June 2020.
