The total volume of investments in electronic communications sector (mobile communications, fixed telephony, Internet access, data transmission, broadcasting and retransmission of audiovisual services) increased over 2010 by 4,9% and reached 1 billion 810 million lei. These are the data of the Report by the National regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) about the evolution of the four markets in 2011.
The highest amount of investments went to mobile sector – 1 billion 132,2 million lei, which is an increase over 2010 by 20,3%. The volume of investments in audiovisual network increased by 81,3% and reached 60,7 million lei. However, the investments in fixed networks decreased by 17,9% and constituted 617,5 million lei.
Of the total of investments, 62,5% was directed to the development of mobile networks, 34,1% – to fixed networks and 3,3% – to broadcasting and retransmission of audiovisual services.
In 2011, like in the previous years, companies JSC ”Moldelecom”, JSC "Orange Moldova” and JSC ”Moldcell” were the major investors in the electronic communications sector. The three providers invested 91,9% of the total: JSC ”Moldtelecom” – 841 million lei (46,5%), JSC ”Orange Moldova” – 502,9 million lei (27,8%) and JSC ”Moldcell” – 319,1 million lei (17,6%) of the total.
In 2011 the total value of the four electronic communications markets increased over 2010 by 1,3% and amounted to 6 billion 220 million lei. In relation to the gross domestic product (GDP) of 2011, the volume of sales in this sector was 7,72%.
The most significant sales were realized on the mobile and fixed telephone markets – 3 billion 610,6 million lei and 1 billion 647 million lei accordingly. The volume of mobile sales increased by 4,5%, whereas the volume of sales on the fixed market decreased by more than 14%. The highest revenue increase – over 24% – occurred on the Internet/data transmission and on the audiovisual broadcasting and re-transmission markets: the total volume of sales on these markets reached 678,2 million lei and 284 million lei accordingly.
