In the second quarter of this year, the cumulative volume of sales of electronic communications services (mobile telephony, dedicated broadband access, fixed telephony, Internet access at fixed locations, broadcasting and retransmission of audiovisual programs and other activities) constituted 1 billion 755,5 million lei, which is 0,7% increase compared to the same period of 2014 and 4% compared to the first quarter of 2015. These data are included in the Report on progress of electronic communications market evolution in the second quarter of 2015, published on the Website of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI).
The evolution of this indicator was driven by increased sales volume on the markets for Internet access at fixed locations, dedicated broadband access, broadcasting and retransmission of audiovisual programs and by reduced sales on the other three markets: fixed telephony, mobile telephony, other electronic communications activities. Thus, the revenue from other activities in the sector decreased compared to the second quarter of 2014 by 24,4% and made 147,3 thousand lei, fixed telephony revenues decreased by 2,4% to 243 million lei and from mobile services – by 0,1% to about 896,3 million lei.
According to the report, during the mentioned timeframe, the highest revenue increase – 21,5% – occurred on the market for broadcasting and retransmission of audiovisual programs, where revenues amounted to 105,8 million lei. The sales of dedicated broadband access (via modem and data cards) increased by 20,6% and amounted to over 86,3 million lei, the ones of Internet access services at fixed locations – by 14,8% up to over 261 million lei.
The most significant average monthly revenue per user (ARPU) was recorded on the markets for Internet access at fixed locations and dedicated broadband access: by 168,2 lei and, respectively, 97,4 lei. The value of this indicator on the mobile telephone market was 68,6 lei, on fixed one – 67 lei and on pay TV market (cable networks, IP TV and MMDS) – 48,5 lei.
ANRCETI has developed and published, since 2012, quarterly reports on the evolution of the main indicators on all the segments of the electronic communications market. The reports are prepared based on the statistical data reported to ANRCETI by electronic communications providers.
