In the first quarter of 2021, the volume of revenues from activities in the electronic communications sector (mobile and fixed voice, mobile and fixed broadband, audiovisual broadcasting and other) decreased by 1.3% compared to the same period the previous year, and was estimated at 1 billion. 441 million lei, according to the Report on the evolution of this market in the first quarter of 2021, published on the official website of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI).

The decrease was driven by lower revenues from fixed and mobile voice services: fixed voice revenues dropped by 8.8% and summed up 88.7 million lei, mobile voice revenues dropped by 7% and reached 693.3 million lei.

At the same time, revenues from the sale of mobile and fixed broadband, pay TV, and other electronic communications activities increased: mobile broadband - by 1.8%, reaching 304.2 million lei, fixed broadband – by 6.7%, making 364.2 million lei, pay TV - by 3.1% up to 47 million lei, other electronic communications activities - by 15.4% to a total of 171.3 million lei.

The highest average monthly revenue per user (ARPU) was reported on the fixed broadband market - 167.9 lei, lower by 0.5% compared to the same period last year. This indicator for the dedicated mobile broadband was of 94.3 lei, higher by 7.7%, for mobile voice - 67.4 lei (-3.3%), for pay TV - 43.3 lei (-2.8%), and for fixed voice - 28.9 lei lei (-4.8%).
