BIGGEST QUANTITY OF MOBILE AND FIXED TELEPHONE NUMBERS WERE PORTED IN 2019

In 2019, the number of subscribers who used the telephone number portability service increased significantly, compared to 2018, by 22.7 thousand and reached 56.9 thousand, according to the data of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) on the evolution of telephone number portability in the preceding year.

According to ANRCETI data, mobile users were the most active in using the number portability service, reaching about 55.4 thousand numbers, while 1.5 thousand numbers were ported by the fixed voice users. The average number of monthly ported numbers last year increased by 1.8 thousand and made up about 4.7 thousand.

Of the 55.4 thousand ported mobile numbers, most of them - over 27 thousand (49%) were ported to JSC "Moldcell", over 14.5 thousand (26%) were ported to the metwork of JSC "Orange Moldova" and about 13.8 thousand (25%) – to the network of JSC "Moldtelecom" (Unite). At the same time, out of the 1.5 thousand ported fixed voice numbers, most of the numbers migrated to the networks of "StarNet Solutions" - 542 numbers (35%), "Moldcell" - 300 numbers (19%), "Moldtelecom" - 243 numbers (16%), and in the networks of other providers - 465 numbers (30%).

The telephone number portability service allows any mobile and fixed user to keep their phone number when switching their provider. According to the regulations issued by ANRCETI, any user of publicly accessible telephone service can benefit from the number portability service in maximum 5 working days from submitting a request to the provider of his choice.
