ANRCETI PUBLISHED STATISTICAL YEARBOOK ON ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS DEVELOPMENT IN 2019

The statistical yearbook on electronic communications development of in 2019, published on the official website of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), shows that the electronic communications service market followed the trend of the last four years: recession of the mobile voice, fixed voice and pay TV markets, while mobile and fixed broadband markets remain the most dynamic markets in this sector.

The total volume of sales on the electronic communications market (mobile and fixed voice, mobile and fixed broadband, audiovisual broadcasting, other activities in the field of electronic communications) decreased, compared to 2018, by 4.1% and was estimated at 6 173 billion, 1 million lei.

The decrease is due to the lower sales on three market segments: fixed voice, mobile voice and other activities in the field of electronic communications. Fixed voice sales decreased by 20.4% and made 443.3 million lei, mobile voice decreased by 2% to 3 billion 142.7 million lei. The sales from other activities in the field of electronic communications decreased by 23.4% and reached 686.9 million lei.

The sharper decrease in 2019 in revenues from the fixed voice services is due to the continuation of user migration from fixed to mobile voice and communication services via Internet.

At the same time, revenues from mobile broadband services increased by 12.1% and reached 1 billion 186.7 million lei, those from fixed broadband services increased by 5,7%, going up to 1 billion 361.7 million lei.

The upward trend of mobile and fixed broadband access market is driven by the steady increase of demand for these services, by intensified competition on these markets and the launch of increasingly attractive offers for users.

The highest average monthly revenue per user (ARPU) was attested on the fixed broadband market - 176.1 lei, however down by 1.6%, compared to 2018, dedicated mobile broadband access - 84.3 lei, down by 0.3%, on the market of mobile telephony services - of 73.3 lei, increasing by 1.1%. The value of this indicator on the market of pay TV services constituted 39.1 lei, decreasing by 6.5%, and on that of fixed telephony services was 33.9 lei, lower by 17.8%.

According to the Law on Electronic Communications no. 241/2007, annually before April 30, ANRCETI publishes the yearbook on the development of the electronic communications market in the previous year.
