On October 24, the Administrative Board of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) had an online bilateral meeting with the representatives of the Authority for Communications Guarantees (AGCOM) from Italy. The discussion was focused on the provisions of the voluntary Declaration on reducing roaming charges between mobile operators from the Republic of Moldova and operators from the European Union (EU) countries. This declaration was signed between the three mobile providers from the Republic of Moldova (Orange Moldova, Moldcell, and Moldtelecom) and the operator groups Orange Group, Deutsche Telecom, Telefonica Group, and Melita.
The representatives of the two regulatory authorities discussed the actions taken up to that date by ANRCETI, BEREC, and the European Commission to expand the list of signatories to the Declaration. In this regard, ANRCETI requested AGCOM's support to facilitate communication with Italian mobile operators to convince them to join the voluntary Declaration.
The voluntary Declaration on reducing roaming charges was signed on May 31, 2023, by European and Moldovan operators. On September 22, the four groups of mobile communication operators from the EU and providers from the Republic of Moldova signed an Annex to the Declaration, setting price caps for roaming services among the signatories. This declaration remains open to all interested mobile communication operators from the EU/SEE, and ANRCETI is making every effort to promote the participation of as many mobile communication operators as possible.
