Statistical data on the evolution of the fixed broadband market, aggregated by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) show that, in the second quarter of this year, subscribers increasingly prefer fixed broadband connections by fiber (FTTx), their number going up, compared to the end of 2020, by 44.4 thousand (+ 8.5%), estimated at 564.2 thousand total. At the same time, the total number of fixed broadband subscribers increased over this timeframe 20.7 thousand (+ 2.9%) and reached 739.7 thousand.
At the same time, the number of subscribers who choose coaxial cable connections dropped by 5.5 thousand (-9.3%), making up 53.6 thousand, the number of subscribers connected via xDSL connections decreased by 18.5 thousand (- 13.4%) making up 119.6 thousand, and the number of subscribers connected via other technologies increased by 253 users (+ 12.3%), to a total of 2.3 thousand.
The most important shares according to the total number of subscribers were as follows: 76.3% -subscribers connected via FTTx technologies, 16.2% - subscribers connected via xDSL, 7.2% - via coaxial cable, 0.3% - other technologies. During three months, the penetration rate of fixed broadband services, per 100 inhabitants, increased by 1.2 percentage points and reached 28.5%.
Most subscribers to fixed fixed broadband services - 381.8 thousand of their total number use data transfer speeds between 30 and 100 Mbps, which are qualified as high data transfer speeds and 209 thousand - over 100 Mbps. At the same time, 132.4 thousand subscribers use 10 and 30 Mbps data transfer speeds, 6.7 thousand - speeds from 2 to 10 Mbps and 9.8 thousand - speeds up to 2 Mbps.
According to the data presented to ANRCETI by the providers of fixed broadband services, the revenues obtained during the reporting period from the sale of these services increased, compared to the same period last year, by 3.7% and were estimated at total of 357.8 million lei. The average monthly revenue per subscriber (ARPU) for these services decreased by 3.3% and reached 162.5 lei.
The market shares of the largest providers of fixed broadband services, by revenues, were as follows: Moldtelecom - 62.1%, Starnet Solutii - 21.1% and Orange Moldova - 6.1% . The cumulative market share of the other providers was 10.7%.
