The statistical data on the evolution of the pay TV market (via cable and IP TV) aggregated by ANRCETI show that in the third quarter of 2021, the total number of subscribers connected to these services increased by 2%, compared to the end of 2020 and was estimated at 368.1 thousand, and the total volume of revenues in this market segment increased by 29.5%, compared to the third quarter of last year, and reached 59 million lei. As a result of this evolution, the average monthly revenue per subscriber (ARPU) increased by 23.2% and equaled 53.5 lei.
Over 223.3 thousand (60.7%) of the total number of subscribers are connected via IPTV networks, their number increased by 6%, and 144.8 thousand subscribers (39.3%) are connected by coaxial cable, down by 3.6%. The same data show that 81.8% of subscribers received digital TV signal and 18.2% - analog. As a result, the penetration rate of pay TV services per 100 households increased in three months by 1.5 pp., reaching 42.5%.
During the reporting period, the largest operators on the pay TV market by turnover, ranked as follows in terms of market shares: Moldtelecom - 30.6%, TV BOX - 28.9%, Orange Moldova – 21.6%, and the cumulative share of the other providers was 18.9%.
