A delegation from the Republic of Moldova took part in the 7th edition of the annual 5G Techritory Forum 2023, held in Riga, Latvia, on October 18- to 19. The delegation included Sergiu Gaibu, ANRCETI Director, Silvia Bojoga, ANRCETI Deputy Director, Anatolie Golovco, Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, and Alexandru Corețchi, Director of the Information Technology and Cybersecurity Service.
This forum is the most important on technology and innovation in Northern Europe, bringing together representatives from the Latvian government, international institutions, academia, businesses, NGOs, and other stakeholders in the telecom industry, from over 81 countries. The discussions revolved around the challenges faced by the electronic communications industry, digitization, cybersecurity, and innovation.
The forum's agenda included a series of panel discussions, roundtables and workshops to address international and Latvian experience in the digital development of the economy, connectivity, deployment of mobile and broadband fixed networks, including 5G networks, the latest developments in European connectivity policies, innovative projects of the implementation process, 6G development prospects and Open RAN.
This year's forum included an extended working session dedicated to exploring the cooperation potential between Latvia, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine and establishing partnerships between government bodies, associations, industry companies, and other stakeholders in areas such as digital strategy development, policy and regulation implementation, development and innovation of information and communication technologies, in the context of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova's future integration into the European Union (EU).
During one of the sessions, Sergiu Gaibu presented the concept of a project, aimed at improving access to electronic communication services, public services, and digital solutions for the citizens of our country, particularly vulnerable population in disadvantaged areas.
