Users of high-speed fixed internet services in our country benefit from the lowest prices in the world, according to a study by the UK-based platform Cable.co.uk. The study analyzed 3,703 broadband internet packages from 219 countries, in the timeframe between January 2, 2023, and March 1, 2023. Thus, Moldova ranks third among countries with cheap fixed broadband, having an average monthly subscription of $7.03, behind Sudan, which has a monthly subscription of - $2.3, and Kazakhstan, with $5.11.
At the other extreme, Burundi has the highest average monthly internet subscription at $383.79.
The study also found that countries in Eastern Europe offer the lowest prices for fixed broadband internet, with an average of $19.22 per month and the highest coverage with FTTP. Western European countries offer monthly subscriptions at an average price of $50.87, while the offers for North American users go up to $104.33 per month.
The authors of the study noted that "Although fixed broadband penetration in Moldova is much lower than in comparable European countries, there is still enormous room for growth, while the number of subscribers to high-speed fixed broadband is consistently increasing."
