Each year, on March 15th, we commemorate World Consumer Rights Day, established in 1985 by the United Nations. The aim of this day is to raise awareness about the importance of consumer rights and to mobilize efforts to safeguard them.
This year's chosen theme is "Fair and Responsible Artificial Intelligence for Consumers," a pertinent topic given the development of new technologies and widespread digitalization. Millions of consumers are already utilizing Artificial Intelligence, a rapidly expanding technology with significant potential to reshape how we work, create, communicate, gather information, and much more. It represents a new field that requires increased attention from policymakers and regulators.
ANRCETI also plays a role in safeguarding consumer interests within its areas of expertise.
To ensure the protection of users of electronic communications and postal services, ANRCETI examines and solves registered petitions, in accordance with the Administrative Code of the Republic of Moldova No. 116/2018. Additionally, ANRCETI collaborates with institutions representing consumer interests and provides information and consultations regarding the activities of providers operating in the electronic communications and postal services market.
Petitions may be submitted in written form, verbally (with documentation recorded in writing) at ANRCETI's premises, or mailed to Bd. Ștefan cel Mare, 134, MD-2012, Chisinau, or electronically to the email address office@anrceti.md, observing the legal requirements for electronic documents.
Furthermore, all users of electronic communications services can seek information and consultations concerning ANRCETI's areas of activity, through the institutional telephone line 080080080. This toll-free number can be accessed from any location in the country, whether through fixed or mobile networks.
Safeguarding consumer rights is fundamental for the effective functioning of our economy and society.
Wishing all consumers a Happy World Consumer Rights Day!
