NUMBER OF FIXED VOICE CONNECTIONS DECREASING IN SECOND QTR 2021
In the second qtr. of 2021 the total number of connections to fixed voice services decreased, compared to the end of 2020, by about 19.2 thousand and was estimated at 1.01 million, according to the statistical data on the evolution of the fixed voice services market, aggregated by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology. At the same time, the total volume of revenues on this market decreased, compared to the same period last year, by 12.5% and reached 85.9 million lei, and the volume of total voice traffic generated by fixed voice users decreased by 20.3%, to about 247 million minutes.
The statistical data reported by the providers show that the number of Moldtelecom subscribers decreased by 18.6 thousand and was estimated at about 901.4 thousand, and the number of subscribers of alternative providers decreased by 599 and totaled 107.1 thousand. Out of the total number of subscribers, 879.8 thousand were individual subscribers and 128.7 thousand were legal entities. The penetration rate of fixed voice services, per 100 inhabitants, decreased by 0.1 percentage points and reached 38.8%.
The voice traffic generated by the subscribers to these services to the mobile networks decreased by 2.1%, the traffic generated in the fixed networks decreased by 8.3%, and the traffic generated to the international networks decreased by 31.6%. As a result, the average monthly voice traffic per subscriber (MoU) decreased by 20.6%, showing 123 minutes.
As a result of the decrease in the number of subscribers, voice traffic and the total volume of revenues on the fixed voice market, the average monthly revenue per users (ARPU) decreased by 8.5% and reached 28.3 lei. Moldtelecom reported ARPU of 29.6 lei, while alternative providers reported ARPU of 16.7 lei.
At the end of the second quarter of this year, the market share of Moldtelecom, by revenues, was 93.8%.
