This week, the leadership of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology had an online meeting with the representatives of the BEREC Office (Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications).
The discussions focused on the following topics:
1. The perspective and conditions for ANRCETI's accession to BEREC;
2. Informing BEREC about the ANRCETI’ actions to reduce the termination rates for calls originating from numbers in the EU and the European Economic Area (EEA);
3. BEREC's support in notifying the regulatory authorities of EU countries about ANRCETI's actions to align rates to the Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2021/654 of 18 December 2020, which complements Directive (EU) 2018/1972 of the European Parliament and of the Council by establishing a single maximum tariff at the EU level for the termination of voice calls in mobile and fixed networks, for the calls originating from the Republic of Moldova.
It should be noted that on April 6 this year, ANRCETI adopted Administrative Board Decisions no. 15-39, by which the termination rates for calls originating from EU and EEA countries were reduced. By this action, ANRCETI aims at transposing the community regulatory framework into the electronic communications sector and creating a common roaming space with the EU.
At the same time, during the meeting, ANRCETI expressed interest in becoming an BEREC participant, in order to take over and implement the best regulatory practices in the electronic communications sector, as well as to establish and strengthen the cooperation with the EU member states regulators.
