In the second quarter of 2022, the mobile voice market increased by 8.7% in terms of total number of users, their number exceeding 5.1 million, compared to the end of the previous year. The total volume of traffic decreased by 11.3%, compared to the similar period of last year, to a total of about 1 billion 512 million minutes, whereas the total volume of revenues decreased by 0.9%, compared to the second quarter of 2021, to over 713 million lei.
The data reported to the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) by the providers of mobile communications services show that the increase in the total number of mobile voice users was attested by all the three mobile providers. Thus, the number of Orange Moldova users increased by 4.1% up to over 2.5 million, the users of Moldtelecom increased by 11.2% up to 666.3 thousand, and the users of Moldcell - by 14.5%, to a total of over 1.9 million users. From the total number of mobile voice users, active users constituted 4.2 million, and passive users - about 899 thousand. Following this development, the penetration rate of mobile voice services (active users) reported per 100 population increased by 13.5 percentage points and made 162%.
The same data show that the volume of traffic generated by users in their own networks dropped by 16.7%, to 992.2 million minutes, the volume of traffic towards fixed networks decreased by 16%, to 58.7 million minutes, and the volume of traffic to other mobile networks increased by 4.7% and totaled 430.7 million minutes. As a result, the average monthly traffic (MoU) of minutes spoken by a voice user during the reporting period decreased by 24.1% and constituted 237 minutes, and the average duration of a call was 1.9 minutes.
The average monthly revenue per user (ARPU) decreased by 15.2% and reached 57.8 lei. Orange Moldova reported ARPU of 70.4 lei, Moldtelecom - 49.6 lei and Moldcell - 43.1 lei.
The market shares of the three mobile voice service providers by revenues were as follows: Orange Moldova - 63%, Moldcell - 29% and Moldtelecom - 8%.
