In the context of launching the procedures for allocating additional radio frequency bands for mobile operators, including for the implementation of 5G technology, the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) is hosting, on March 5th and 6th, an Expert Mission organized with the support of TAIEX - Technical Assistance and Information Exchange instrument of the European Commission. Experts from regulatory authorities in Germany, Italy, and Romania provide their expertise and best practices on organizing and conducting auctions for 5G frequency bands.
Representatives from ANRCETI and the National Frequency Management Service (SNMFR) are taking part in the event. Participants discussed topics related to radio spectrum sharing, establishing the licensing conditions, preparation and organization of the auction, as well as methods to ensure fair competition for all operators interested in acquiring new radio frequency blocks.
Sergiu Gaibu, Director of ANRCETI, highlighted the significance of the TAIEX Expert Mission, stating that it provides ANRCETI and SNMFR with a valuable chance to learn from the experiences and best practices of EU member states that have allocated radio frequencies for 5G technologies. This opportunity contributes to the establishment of a strong regulatory framework and enables operators to access the required frequency spectrum, ultimately enhancing the quality of mobile electronic communications services and facilitating the implementation of 5G technologies in the Republic of Moldova.
