On January 5, the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) hosted the visit of the representatives of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), led by Oleg CARA, General Director.

During the discussion, ANRCETI Deputy Director made a review of the previous joint activities conducted by the two institutions, thanked the Bureau for the support offered in accessing statistical standards and procedures and reiterated ANRCETI’s openness to new cooperation on areas of common interest, for the coordination of activities in the area of statistics.

The discussions also focused on the possibilities of strengthening the bilateral cooperation between ANRCETI and NBS, in particular in terms of the harmonization of statistics in the field of electronic communications to European standards, given the EU candidate status of the Republic of Moldova.

In this context, the parties exchanged views on the need to modernize statistical data, the methods of their collection, processing and dissemination, based on the best practices used in the EU, noting at the same time that this aspect offers new possibilities for bilateral cooperation, mutually beneficial for both entities.

Ms. Bojoga informed Mr. Cara about ANRCETI's intention to review the regulatory framework regarding the approval of statistical report forms for providers of public electronic and postal communications networks and/or services, at the same time mentioning the importance of ANRCETI obtaining the status a producer of official statistics and expressing the hope that the NBS will provide the necessary support in this regard.
