Statistical data submitted to the National Agency for Regulation in Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) by mobile providers show that the volume of voice traffic generated by users during the second quarter 2020 increased, compared to the same period last year, by about 5,9% and reached 1.7 billion minutes.
The analysis of voice traffic indicates an increase of calls made in the operators' own networks and outbound to other mobile networks. Thus, the volume of traffic generated in the same mobile networks increased by 4.2%, up to 1.2 billion minutes, and the traffic to other mobile networks increased by 15.6%, up to 338.1 million minutes.
At the same time, the volume of revenues from mobile voice services, in the second quarter of 2020 made 707.1 million lei, which is a 9.9% decrease compared to the same period of last year. The total number of mobile voice users, compared to the end of 2019, decreased by 5%, to a total of 4.2 million users, of which 3.3 million - active users.
All the three mobile providers reported decreasing number of users: Moldtelecom - by 0.3%, showing total of 406.2 thousand, Moldcell - by 8.6%, to a total of 1.4 million, and Orange Moldova - by 3.6% to a total of 2.4 million. As a result, the penetration rate of mobile voice services, per 100 inhabitants, decreased by 8.2 p.p. and reached 126.6%.
The average monthly traffic (MoU) generated by one user in the second quarter of this year was 312 minutes (increased by 8.9%), and the average call duration was 2.2 minutes. A user of Moldtelecom monthly consumed on average biggest quantity of minutes – 365 minutes. A user of Orange Moldova consumed on average 353 minutes, and a user of Moldcell - 229 minutes.
During the reporting period, the average monthly revenue per active mobile voice user (ARPU) was 68.8 lei, which is a 7.5% decrease, compared to the second quarter of 2019. Moldtelecom reported ARPU of 74 lei, Orange Moldova of 73.2 lei, and Moldcell - of 60 lei.
The market shares of the three mobile providers, by turnover, did not undergo essential changes. Thus, Orange Moldova holds 64.4% of the market, Moldcell - 29.5% and Moldtelecom - 6.1%.
