In the first three months of 2015, the total revenue from activities in the electronic communications sector (mobile telephony, dedicated mobile Internet, fixed telephony, fixed Internet, broadcasting and retransmission of audiovisual programs, other activities) increased by 7,5% over the same period of last year and reached billion 688,6 million lei. These data are provided in the Report of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) on market development of electronic communications market in the first quarter of 2015. The increase was driven by higher volumes of sales practically on all market segments, except broadcasting and retransmission of audiovisual programs, where the sales went down compared to the first quarter of 2014 by 3,3% and totaled 80,7 million lei.
According to the report, the market for mobile Internet dedicated access (via modems/cards/USB) had the highest rate of revenue growth – over 14%, sales making 82,6 million lei. The market for Internet access at fixed locations had a relatively lower growth rate – 13,1%, the revenues on this market increased by 29,7 million lei and reached about 256 million lei. The total volume of sales on the mobile telephony market increased by 4,8% and made up about 834,5 million lei, on the fixed telephone market – by 4,5% up to 264,8 million lei. The revenues from electronic communications activities increased by 23,6% and reached 155,4 million lei.
The markets for fixed Internet access and dedicated mobile Internet access showed the most significant monthly average revenue per user (ARPU): 166,4 lei and 95,8 lei. This indicator on the fixed telephony market was 72,7 lei, on the mobile telephony market – 63,8 lei and on the pay TV market (cable networks, satellite networks, IP TV and MMDS) – 47,4 lei.
