National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology of the Republic of Moldova

The statistical yearbook on the development of the electronic communications market in 2020, published on the website of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), shows the same trends: recession of the markets for mobile and fixed voice, broadcasting and retransmission of audiovisual programs, amid the rapidly growing markets for mobile and fixed broadband.

Revenues on the mobile voice market decreased by 6.3% and reached 2.9 billion lei, those on the fixed voice market decreased by 14.4% and reached 380 million lei, and revenues from audiovisual programs transmission services decreased by 5.1% and reached 283.3 million lei. This evolution brought about 3.8% decrease in the total revenues in the electronic communications sector (mobile and fixed voice, mobile and fixed broadband, transmission and retransmission of audiovisual programs, other activities in the field of electronic communications), which was estimated at more than 5,9 billion lei.

Revenues obtained on the fixed broadband market increased by 1.6% , up to about 1.4 billion lei, those on the mobile broadband market (dedicated Internet access and Internet access via mobile phone ) increased by 1.9% and totaled 1.2 billion lei, and those from other electronic communications activities increased by 4.1% and reached about 715 million lei.

According to ANRCETI estimates, the trends of the market will be maintained in the coming years. The market for mobile and fixed broadband services continue to be the most dynamic markets in this sector, their upward trend being stimulated by the increasing degree of influence on the daily lives of citizens, intensified competition on these markets, but also by more advantageous offers for the users of these services.
