As part of the monitoring of activities in the field of electronic communications, the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) found that in the timeframe March 09 – 23, 2020, the volume of traffic generated in electronic communications networks increased significantly compared to the same period of the previous year.
Thus, the volume of mobile Internet traffic generated in the networks of the three providers (Orange, Moldtelecom and Moldcell) was estimated at about 5.6 million Gb, which is 28.5% higher than the average volume of traffic generated during the same period of 2019, while the volume of fixed Internet traffic in the networks of providers with the highest shares on this segment (Starnet, Arax, Moldtelecom, Orange) reached 35.5 million Gb, or by 28.1% higher than in the same reference period of last year.
The volume of voice traffic in mobile networks also increased and surpassed 304.5 million minutes (up by 16.1%).
Despite the increase on traffic volume, the providers succeeded in ensuring viability of the networks and continuity of the services at the quality established according to the license conditions.
At the same time, a series of promotional offers have been launched, without additional payments, such as doubling the internet traffic and the possibility to watch all the television channels from the offer of the audiovisual media services, broadcast by the providers.
