In 2018, the total volume of sales on the electronic communications market (mobile and fixed voice, mobile and fixed broadband, broadcasting of audiovisual programs, other electronic communications activities) decreased compared to 2017, by 2.8% and was estimated at 6 billion 439.8 million lei, shows the data of the Report on the evolution of the electronic communications market in 2018 published on the website of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI).
The decrease is due to the reduction of revenues on the markets for fixed voice, mobile voice, broadcasting of audiovisual programs. Thus, the sales on the fixed voice market decreased by 19.9% and was estimated at 556.8 million lei, on the mobile voice market decreased by 5.6% and totaled 3 billion 150.4 million lei, and those on the market for audiovisual broadcasting of decreased by 5.1% and made up 248.7 million lei.
At the same time, revenues from the sale of mobile and fixed broadband services, as well as from other activities performed on this market have increased. Thus, mobile broadband sales increased by 16.5% and amounted to 1 billion 58.5 million lei, fixed broadband sales increased by 6.6% and amounted to 1 billion 289.5 million lei, while the revenues from other activities increased by 8% and totaled 859.9 million lei.
Report data show that the most requested services remain to be mobile and fixed broadband services. The number of those who accessed the mobile broadband grew considerably in 2018, by 21.3%, and reached 2 million 948.1 thousand and the number of users who accessed the fixed broadband increased by 6.6% and reached 623.1 thousand. The penetration rate of mobile broadband services, per 100 inhabitants, increased by 14.6 pp. and made up 83% and the fixed broadband service rate increased by 1 pp. and reached 17.5%.
The highest average monthly income per user (ARPU) was attested on the fixed broadband market - 179 lei, up 1.2% compared to 2017, access to dedicated mobile broadband - 78.4 lei, increased by 0.1%, mobile voice market - by 72.7 lei, down 2.2%. The value of this indicator on the market for audiovisual broadcasting was 41.8 lei, down by 4.5%, and fixed voice - 41.2%, down by 17.7 %.
Annually, by April 30, ANRCETI prepares and publishes the report on the evolution of the electronic communications market in the previous year.
