On September 23 – 25, two specialists from the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) took part a in regional workshop for CIS countries, organized by International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Odessa, Ukraine. The workshop addressed organizational and technical issues of ICT development.
The event was attended by ITU officials, representatives of ICT administrations, regulators and academia from CIS countries.
The agenda included six sessions of discussions, which were completed with a round table discussion, dedicated to the key directions of ICT/telecommunications development. The workshop participants contributed with relevant presentations, as to the ITU activities in terms of organizational and technical development of the ICT sector, the best practices of a number of countries in this regard and discussed issues related to the state's role in ICT development, regulation of ICT sector in CIS countries, other topical issues related to ICT development. ANRCETI representatives made two presentations – one on the development of the domestic electronic communications market and other – on regulatory practices applied on the ICT sector in Moldova.
ITU is a UN institution in the ICT and the main global forum, serving as a platform for discussion and consensus on multiple ICT development issues. Currently, ITU membership comprises 193 countries and about 800 private sector entities and academia. Moldova has been a full member of the ITU since October 1992.
