This week, the representatives of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), for the first time, took part as observers in a meeting of the representatives of the regulatory authorities, members of the European Regulators Group for Postal Services (ERGP), held in Brussels. Previously, ERGP granted ANRCETI the status of observer.
During the meeting in Brussels, the ERGP draft strategy for 2017-2019 was presented. The Strategy establishes the core areas on which ERGP will focus activity during the reporting period, taking into account the challenges facing the postal sector after the needs of users change due to electronic substitution of services and electronic commerce.
At the ERGP meeting, six reports were presented on the postal sector development trends, cost efficiency of postal operators, transparency of online traders and consumers in terms of cross-border parcels delivery through online commerce. The participants submitted their proposals for the agenda of ERGP Plenary session scheduled for November 24-25, 2016 and for the draft work program of this organization for 2017.
ANRCETI Administration consider that the participation of its representatives in ERGP activities as observers will give them the opportunity to have a deep insight into the best regulatory practices of the postal market and take up the experience of EU regulators, a factor that will contribute to the implementation by ANRCETI of the Law on Postal Communications No.36 of 17.03.2016.
ERGP was created in August 2010, by Commission Decision of August 10, 2010, establishing the European Regulators Group for Postal Services. Its members are postal service regulators from EU countries. The mission of ERGP is to provide consultancy to the European Commission as regards postal service issues.
