The Administrative Board of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Society (ANRCETI) assesses work of its subdivisions in 2013 as satisfactory and believes they need to make the utmost of the existing potential to enhance the quality and effectiveness of the regulatory measures planned for 2014. This is the conclusion made by the ANRCETI Director Grigore Varanita at a meeting summarizing ANRCETI performance in 2013, Monday, January 20.
During the meeting, the chiefs of the main ANRCETI departments reported on performance conducted in 2013, according to which the most significant activities were as follows: (i) launch of telephone number portability in fixed and mobile networks; (ii) conclusion of second cycle of relevant market analysis, designation of providers with significant market power and revision of special ex-ante obligations, previously imposed on them; (iii) development and approval of the regulatory acts required for the organization of license auctions for the use of spectrum in the provision of broadband electronic communications services; (iv) approval of new regulations aiming to ensure a higher level of end user protection.
In this context, Director Grigore Varanita stated that by taking these decisions important for the market, ANRCETI took significant steps to fulfill its main objective: to promote competition and investment in infrastructure, create conditions for the development of new broadband technologies and services, promote the legitimate interests end users.
Grigore Varanita said that the work launched in 2013 will continue this year by enhancing the monitoring of the number porting service, the compliance with ex-ante obligations imposed on SMP providers, the observance of end users legitimate rights and interests by providers.
ANRCETI’s most important projects in 2014 are the organization of the license auction for the use of 800, 900 and 1800 MHz frequency bands in the provision of cell mobile electronic communications networks and the launch of development and enforcement of the regulatory framework for universal service implementation, following the approval by the Government of the National Program for universal service implementation. "These are new tasks for ANRCETI. In order to successfully fulfill them, not only do we need to make the maximum effort but also to be responsible, transparent and ensure efficient interaction between all the subdivisions involved in these activities”, said the Director.
It is a common practice that the Administrative Board hears and discusses the reports presented by heads of Departments on their activity for half a year and for the entire year.
