Insignificant Decrease of Revenues in Electronic Communications Sector
In the second quarter of 2018, the cumulative volume of revenues generated from activities in electronic communications sector (mobile and fixed telephony, mobile and fixed Internet, transmission and retransmission of audiovisual programs and other electronic communications activities) slightly dropped compared with the same period of last year, by 0,5%, making a total of 1 billion 643 million lei, shows the Report on the evolution of the electronic communications market in the second quarter of 2018, published on the official website of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI).
The evolution of this indicator was determined by the decrease in revenues from fixed telephony, mobile telephony, transmission and retransmission of audiovisual programs. Revenues from fixed telephony services decreased by 19,8% to 141,9 million lei, from mobile telephony services – by 6,6% to 796,9 million lei, broadcasting and retransmission of audiovisual programs – by 6,1% to 59,4 million lei.
However, the revenues from mobile and fixed Internet services increased during this timeframe. Thus, revenues from mobile Internet access services increased by 15,4% up to 254,4 million lei, while revenues from fixed Internet access services – by 6,8%, to a total of 180,3 million lei.
The most significant monthly average revenue per user (ARPU) was 180,3 lei, on fixed Internet access market, up 1,9% over the same period of 2017, followed by dedicated mobile Internet access – 77,1 lei (-0,2%) and mobile telephony market – 73,9 lei (-2,9%). The value of this indicator on the fixed telephony service market was 41,9 lei (-17,5%), while on the pay TV it was 41,3 lei (-3,2%).
ANRCETI prepares and publishes on its official web site quarterly reports on the evolution of the electronic communications market, based on the statistical data submitted by the operating providers.
