On November 12, 2019, representatives of the National Agency for Regulation in Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) attended the Stakeholders Meeting of on Roaming issues, which took place in Vilnius, with the support of the European Union (EU). The event was hosted by the Regulatory Communications Authority (RRT) of the Republic of Lithuania, which is co-chair of the Roaming Expert Working Group (REWG) within EaPeReg, in cooperation with the National Commission for State Regulation of Communications and Informatization (NCCIR) of Ukraine – Chair of REWG.
The meeting was attended by representatives of electronic communications regulators and relevant ministries from Eastern Partnership (EAP) countries and EU countries (members of REWG Group). The main purpose of the event was to examine the legal options proposed by EU4Digital experts, in order to conclude the Regional Roaming Agreement (RRA) between the EaP countries, in correlation with the obligations assumed within the World Trade Organization (WTO), and identification of the optimal options for all the six EaP countries, but also to present the progress made in the process of implementing the roadmap for the conclusion of the RRA.
EU4Digital is an EU-funded regional program for EaP countries. Through this program, the EU provides assistance to EaP countries in reducing roaming tariffs, strengthening the independence of national regulatory authorities and developing coordinated strategies for allocation of radio frequency spectrum.
