The Report (doc. in state language) of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) regarding the evolution of electronic communications markets in Qu. I 2013 shows that the first three months of 2013, revenues from sales in electronic communications (mobile, fixed telephony, dedicated mobile broadband, fixed telephony, fixed Internet and data transmission, broadcasting) grew, compared with the similar timeframe of the previous year, by about 4%, and constituted 1 billion 527,3 million lei.
The Report was made by ANRCETI based on the statistical data presented by the providers actively operating on the five electronic communications markets and placed on ANRCETI’s website: www.anrceti.md. In the previous years, ANRCETI used to quarterly report on four markets (mobile communications, fixed telephony, fixed Internet and data transmission, broadcasting), whereas starting with 2013, according to ITU practices, decided to report on the situation on mobile market as per two different segments: mobile telephony and dedicated mobile broadband.
According to ANRCETI report, the increase of revenues in I Qu. occurred mainly due to the increase in the number of service users on all the five markets and sales volumes on three markets (mobile telephony, dedicated mobile broadband, fixed Internet and data transmission). Revenues from mobile telephony rose to 802,9 mil. lei (4,4% increase), Fixed Internet and data transmission – to 226,6 mil. lei (21% increase), dedicated mobile broadband – to 66,8 mil. lei (29,9% increase). The sales of fixed telephony market made up 357,8 mil. lei (drop by 7%), on the broadcasting market – 72,9 mil. lei (drop by 4,6%).
The most significant growth in the number of users, compared with I Qu. of last year, occurred with market for dedicated mobile broadband services (by 39,3%, reached 201,1 thousand) and the one for fixed Internet and data transmission (by 15,3% reaching 432,1 thousand). Also, the number of mobile telephony users increased by 17% and exceeded 4 million 211,1 thousand, the number of fixed telephony users increased by 2,2% and made up 1 million 210,7 thousand, whereas the number of subscribers to multichannel TV services (cable, IPTV, satellite and MMDS) – by 5,8%, totaled 279,4 thousand.
ANRCETI Report shows that in Qu. I, 2013, the most significant average monthly revenue per user (ARPU) – 142,5 lei – was registered on the fixed Internet access market, followed by the 117,3 lei ARPU for dedicated mobile broadband, 101,7 lei – for fixed telephony, 64,6 lei – for mobile telephony and 48,1 lei – for multichannel TV services.
