The report on the evolution of the electronic communications market in the third quarter of 2018, published on the official website of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), shows that the total volume of revenues in the sector (mobile and fixed voice, mobile and fixed broadband, transmission and retransmission of audiovisual programs and other activities in the field of electronic communications) continued to decrease, compared to the same period of last year, by 4,2% and was estimated at 1,6 billion lei.
The decrease was caused by lower revenues on three market segments: mobile voice, fixed voice, transmission and retransmission of audiovisual programs. Thus, the revenues on the mobile voice market decreased by 5,5% to 826 million lei, while the fixed voice market decreased by 19,7% to 137,3 million lei, and that of the broadcasting and retransmission of audiovisual programs decreased by 3,8% to 58,3 million lei.
At the same time, the revenues generated by mobile and fixed broadband increased: mobile broadband by 16% up to a total of 280,7 million lei, fixed broadband – by 6,9% up to a total of 321,4 million lei.
The highest average monthly income per user (ARPU) was attested on the market for fixed broadband – 177,7 lei, which is 1,4% increase compared to the same timeframe of last year, dedicated mobile Internet access – 78,1 lei, down 1,1% and on the mobile voice market – 76,2 lei, down by 2%. The value of this indicator on the pay TV service market was 42,3 lei, down by 6%, and on the fixed voice market 40,8 lei, down by 17,3%.
