The statistical report on the evolution of the postal communications market in 2020, published by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) on the page www.anrceti.md reflects a considerable increase in the total volume of postal parcel traffic (+58,2%), compared to 2019, reaching 870.6 thousand. From the total number of parcels sent in that period - over 628 thousand (+ 45.8%) were sent domestically, 13.5 thousand (+ 16.1%) - sent abroad, and about 229 thousand (+ 111.9%) were parcels received from outside of the Republic of Moldova.
The analysis of postal traffic shows that, the number of express mail increased by 13%, reaching 454.1 thousand, the number of postal items (mail, printed items (including Mbags), small parcels) decreased by 21%, reaching 48 million 455.9 thousand. The total volume of postal traffic (postal items (correspondence, printed matter (including M bags)), parcels, and express mailings) decreased by 20.1%, showing 49 780.6 thousand postal items Out of the total number of postal items, 45 million 66 thousand were domestic postal items, and 4 million 714.6 thousand represented international postal items.
According to the report, the total volume of revenues on the postal communications market decreased by 12% and was estimated at 354 million 292.4 thousand lei. The highest drop rate was registered for the revenues obtained from advertising mail (-75.8%), reaching 665 thousand lei, and for the revenues from correspondence (-34.4%), making 143 million 284,8 thousand lei, while the revenues obtained from postal parcels increased by 33.4%, totaling 76 million 815.4 thousand lei; and those made from express items (Express) increased by 5.4% , reaching 116 million 747.9 thousand lei.
At the same time, the total volume of revenues from the services covered by universal postal service was estimated at 163 million 773.7 thousand lei, representing about 46.2% of the total value of the postal communications market.
The traffic of postal items covered by universal postal service decreased by 9.8%, compared to 2019, estimated at 46 million 329 thousand items, with a share of 93.1% of the total traffic of postal items.
