The Commission for the auction of licenses for 2500 - 2690 MHz and four sub-bands of 3600 - 3800 MHz to be used in the provision of public electronic communications broadband networks and services qualified the auction result as null for the reason that no bids have been submitted to the deadline (June 7, 2013).
The auction was announced by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) on April 15, 2013, with the set deadline for bids – June 7, 2013, 16.00 hours.
The license fee for the use of sub-band 2500-2520/2620-2640 MHz, of 2x20 MHz bandwidth, from 2500-2690 MHz band was to be set during the auction, the starting bid being 10 million euro. This 4G license was auctioned for the reason that it was not bidden for in 2012, when ANRCETI, pursuant to Government Decree no. 365 (doc. in state language) of 06.06.2012, decided to issue a 4G license to each of the three mobile providers, directly. Two licenses were granted upon request to JSC „Moldcell” and JSC „Orange Moldova” in November 2012, whereas the third one was not requested by JSC „Moldtelecom”.
According to the mentioned Government Decree, the licenses for the use of sub-bands 3600-3650 MHz; 3650-3700 MHz; 3700-3750 MHz and 3750-3800 MHz, of 50 MHz bandwidth each, from 3600-3800 MHz band were to be issued to the winners, designated as a result of the auction, with the starting bid 1 million euro. In 2012, ANRCETI announced an auction for the 3750-3800 MHz license; however, it was not bidden for. Pursuant to the Spectrum Management Program (doc. in state language) for 2013 – 2020, ANRCETI repeatedly auctioned this license, as well as three licenses for the 3600-3800 MHz spectrum.
In accordance with the provisions of the Program, in October – December 2013, ANRCETI will announce another auction for the five spectrum licenses mentioned above, the spectrum to be used for the provision of broadband networks and services.
