In 2018, Number of Subscribers Using Number Portability Service Increased by about 2,9 Thousand

In 2018, the number of subscribers who used the number portability service increased, compared to 2017, by 2,9 thousand and reached 34,2 thousand, according to the data available with the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology ( ANRCETI) about the evolution of number portability last year. This service allows any mobile or fixed-line user to keep their phone number when switching providers.

According to ANRCETI data, the total quantity of ported numbers in 2018 comprised 32 thousand mobile numbers and 2,2 thousand - fixed line numbers. The monthly average number of ported numbers was estimated at 2,9 thousand.

Over 14,000 of the 32,000 ported mobile numbers in 2018 were accepted by the network of JSC "Moldcell". The network of JSC "Orange Moldova" received over 9,5 thousand numbers, and the networks of JSC "Moldtelecom" (Unite) - about 8,4 thousand. At the same time, of the 2,2 thousand ported fixed line numbers - 810 numbers were from JSC "Moldtelecom", 634 numbers were from the LLC "StarNet Solutions", and 405 numbers - from the JSC "Orange Moldova".

Since the launch of number portability in July 2013 and by the end of 2018, about 216 thousand telephone numbers have been ported in Moldova, of which over 199 thousand - mobile numbers and 17,4 thousand - fixed line numbers.

According to the regulations developed by ANRCETI, any user of publicly available telephone service can benefit from the number portability service within 5 working days maximum after submitting the request to the provider he has chosen.
