In the first qtr. of 2016, the total revenue in electronic communications sector (mobile telephony, mobile dedicated Internet, fixed telephony, fixed Internet, broadcasting and retransmission of audiovisual programs, other activities) decreased 3,32% over the same period of last year, and equaled 1 billion 633 mln lei, as shown in a report of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) regarding the evolution of the electronic communications market in the first quarter of 2016. The document was published on ANRCETI official website and is available: http://anrceti.md/files/filefield/Raport%20statist%201Q%202016.pdf.
The revenues decreased due to the reduced volumes of sales virtually on all market segments, except mobile dedicated Internet and fixed Internet, where the revenues increased compared to the first quarter of 2015, making 92,24 mln. lei (+19.9%) and 268 mln. (+4.7%).
According to the report, the highest rate of revenue decline was recorded in the market for broadcasting and retransmission of audiovisual programs – -18,12% and fixed telephony market – -10,89%. The revenues on these two market segments were 66.09 mln. lei and 236 mln. lei. A relatively lower decline rate - by 4,29% occurred on the mobile market, where revenues decreased by 36 mln. lei and reached about 804,10 mln. lei.
The most significant monthly revenues per user (ARPU) were recorded on the markets for fixed Internet access and dedicated mobile Internet: 166,95 lei, and respectively 102,8 lei. The value of this indicator on the fixed telephone market was 65,5 lei, on the mobile market – 62,2 lei and on pay TV market (cable networks, satellite networks and IP TV) – 45,74 lei.
