In the timeframe July - September 2017, the total volume of revenues from services in the electronic communications sector (mobile telephony, mobile Internet, fixed telephony, fixed Internet, retransmission of audiovisual programs, other electronic communications activities) decreased compared to the third quarter of 2016, by 2,7% to a total of 1 billion 675,2 million lei. These data are provided in the Report on the evolution of the electronic communications market in the third quarter of 2017, published on the official website of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI).
The drop was caused mainly by decrease of revenues on three market segments: fixed telephony, retransmission of audiovisual programs, mobile telephony. Revenues from fixed telephony services decreased by about 17% and totaled 170,9 million lei, from audiovisual programs retransmission services – by 13,2% to a total of 60.5 million lei, from mobile telephony services – by 6,8%, to 874 million lei.
At the same time, two more market segments grew significantly – mobile Internet and fixed Internet. Revenues from mobile Internet services increased by 28% and exceeded 241,9 million lei, while those from fixed Internet services – by 8,4% and reached 320,7 million lei.
The highest monthly average revenue per user (ARPU) was attested on the fixed Internet access market – 187 lei. On the market for dedicated Internet access and mobile telephony, the average monthly revenue was 78,9 lei and 77,8 lei, accordingly. On the other market segments this indicator had the following values: fixed telephony – 49,3 lei, pay TV – 45 lei, mobile Internet (by smart phones) – about 30 lei.
