National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology of the Republic of Moldova

Today, the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) published on its website a report (doc. in state language) on the development of electronic communications markets in the third quarter of 2012. According to the report, the total revenues from the sale of electronic communications services (mobile communications, fixed telephony, data transmission and Internet access, audiovisual program broadcasting and retransmission) reached 1 billion 679.6 million lei, an increase by 6.1% and 14.4%, compared to quarter II and I accordingly.

This increase was driven mainly by increased sales of mobile communication, data transmission and fixed Internet access services. The revenues from mobile communications increased, over quarter III of 2011, by 43.2 million lei (+ 4.5%) and reached 1 billion 004.6 million  lei; the ones from data transmission and fixed Internet access services – by 32.0 million  lei (+18.8%) and made 202.1 million lei. The volume of fixed telephony service sales amounted to 396.3 million lei and the volume of sales audiovisual program retransmission services – 76,7 million lei.

The most important share in the total revenues in electronic communications sector belongs to mobile communication services (59.8%), fixed telephone services (23.6%) and data transmission/fixed Internet access services (12%). The share of revenues from audiovisual program retransmission services is 4.6%.

The most significant monthly average revenue per user (ARPU) was recorded on the market for data transmission/fixed Internet access services: 141.26 lei and 125 lei accordingly. The value of this indicator on the fixed telephony market was 110.66 lei, on mobile communications market – 84.39 lei, on the market for multichannel TV services (retransmission via cable networks, IPTV, satellite and MMDS networks) – 50.52 lei.

In quarter III of 2012, the four electronic communications markets were operated by 188 providers. Most of them provide broadcast and retransmission services, data transmission and fixed Internet access services: 128 and 53 providers. There are 24 providers on the fixed telephony market and 3 providers on the mobile market.
