This week, ANRCETI Director takes part within the delegation of the Republic of Moldova in the plenipotentiary conference of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), which is being held in Dubai, during the period 29.10.2018 - 16.11.2018.
The delegation from the Republic of Moldova is led by Vitalie Tarlev, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure. At the event, the head of the delegation, Vitalie Tarlev delivered a speech to the Plenary of the Plenipotentiary Conference, in which he reviewed the main objectives achieved by the Republic of Moldova in the field of information society and digital economy development, in terms of the global ITU objectives.
The delegation had meetings with Houlin Zhao, the ITU Secretary-General and Brahima Sanou - Director of the ITU Development Bureau.
Also, a series of consultations took place with the directors of ITU area offices for Europe and CIS, with delegates of CEPT Member states, as well as other partners.
At the same event also took place the elections for the key position in the ITU, after which as general secretary of the ITU was re-elected, for a second term of office, Houlin Zhao, from Popular Republic of China.
The ITU Plenipotentiary Conference takes places every four years – the event in which the voting representatives of the ITU member countries decide on the future role of the ITU and set the general policies, adopt the strategic and financial plans of the Union, elect the ITU management, Council and the Radio Regulations Committee.
The Republic of Moldova has been a full member of the International Telecommunication Union from October 1992. The ITU is a specialized UN agency that promotes policies of communications development and standardization.
