National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology of the Republic of Moldova

Today, a delegation from the Republic of Moldova is concluding its 5-day study tour in the Czech Republic. Sergiuc Sitnic, Director of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI - www.anrceti.md), is one of the delegates. Moldovan specialists were invited to study the practices of co-operation between public authorities, private sector and non-governmental organizations in building the information society. The tour is supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

A team of experts from consulting company Great Village International Consultants (GVIC) from Canada will offer assistance to the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI – www.anrceti.md) in drafting the strategy of electronic communications market regulation for a medium term. This is one of the subjects to be discussed by the experts, whose mission to Chisinau is scheduled for January 20 - 28, 2010 as part of the technical assistance project „Communications Regulatory Development”, offered to ANRCETI by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

In 2009 The National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI – www.anrceti.md) assigned over 722 thousand numbers from the National Numbering Plan to providers of electronic communications networks and/or services requested for operational activity. The total of numbering resources assigned by the regulator in 2009 does not significantly differ from the one assigned in 2008.

In 2009, the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI – www.anrceti.md) authorized 202 economic entities to operate in the sector: 166 – to provide electronic communications networks and/or services and 36 – information technology services.

The ANRCETI Administrative Board Decision, providing for modifications to the Interconnection Regulations, entered in force on December 29, 2009, following publication in the Official Gazette. In particular, the modification concerns section 12 of the document.
