According to statistics on the evolution of the mobile voice market, in the first quarter of 2022, the total volume of revenues of mobile communications providers increased by 4.5% compared to the same period last year, and were estimated at 724.2 million lei, while the total number of users increased by 2.3%, during 3 months, and reached over 4.8 million. At the same time, the total volume of voice traffic decreased by 1.7%, compared to the first quarter of last year, showing over 1.6 billion minutes.

According to the data presented to ANRCETI by the mobile communications service providers (Orange Moldova, Moldcell and Moldtelecom - Unite), all providers attested increase in the number of mobile voice users. Thus, the number of Orange Moldova users increased by over 64 thousand, to a total of over 2.5 million, the number of Moldcell users increased by over 16 thousand, coming up to about 1.7 million, and the number of Moldtelecom-Unite users increased by 26.6 thousand, making 626 thousand. Out of the total number of subscribers - just over 4 million are active users of mobile services. As a result of this evolution, the penetration rate of mobile voice services, per 100 inhabitants, increased by 5.2 pp. and equaled 153.6%.

The data also show that the voice traffic generated in own networks decreased by 5% and amounted to about 1.1 billion minutes, the traffic to fixed networks decreased by 10.8% and totaled 66.1 million minutes, and the traffic to other mobile networks increased by 10.3%, to about 416 million minutes. As a result of this evolution, the average monthly traffic per user (MoU) decreased, compared to the same period last year, by 14.5% and reached 263 minutes. In the first quarter of this year, a user of Orange Moldova monthly consumed an average of 318 minutes, a customer of Moldtelecom - 267 minutes and a customer of Moldcell - 182 minutes. The average call duration was 2.1 minutes.

The average monthly revenue per active mobile voice user (ARPU) decreased, compared to the same quarter of 2021, by 9.3% and made 61.1 lei. Orange Moldova registered an ARPU of 69.3 lei, Moldcell - 52 lei, and Moldtelecom-Unite - of 50.2 lei.

The market shares of the mobile voice service providers, by turnover, were the following: Orange Moldova - 60.7%, Moldcell - 31.3% and Moldtelecom - 8%.
