Starting January 1, 2017, the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) of Moldova will serve as Chairman of the Eastern Partnership Electronic Communications Regulators Network (EaPeReg) and the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM) from Romania – as Vice-Chairman of the Network. The decision on electing ANRCETI and ANCOM for these positions was approved at the Plenary Session of the EaPeReg Network on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, in Bucharest.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding establishing the Network, EaPeReg Group, the Chairman of EaPeReg is elected for one year, from among the regulators of one of the Eastern Partnership Countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine), while the Vice-Chairman – a regulator from one of EU member states, who are partners in this project. The EaPeReg Chair and Vice-Chair are responsible for the organizational process within the network and for the fulfillment of network activities planned for that year.

This year, the regulatory authority for electronic communications from Belarus is EaPeReg Chair, and the regulator from Latvia – Vice Chair. Before, ANRCETI was EaPeReg Chair once – in 2013.

The EaPeReg Network was established in 2012 in Chisinau, at a meeting of electronic communications regulators from EaP countries. EaPeReg's mission is to ensure a permanent exchange of information and experience between the EaP regulators and EU regulators in terms of harmonization of the legal frameworks in EaP countries with EU standards and use of best practices of European regulators. Since 2013, the EC is delivering a technical assistance project to EaPeReg Network.
