International Expert Will Conduct Workshops Focused on Current Issues

On February 22 - 23, John Horrocks, expert of the technical assistance project „Communications Regulation Development”, delivered to the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) is coming on a mission to hold several workshops on the current telecommunications problems of interest to both Agency specialists and telecoms operators.

The agenda comprises four separate workshops focused on technical and economic aspects of electronic communications regulation. On Tuesday, February 22, issues related to the access to the local loop and telephone number portability in fixed networks will be brought to discussion, whereas Tuesday afternoon will be dedicated to issues of mobile phone number portability. On Wednesday, February 23, training program participants will examine current issues related to the implementation of WiMax and LTE technologies, as well as the transition from analogue to digital television.

The technical assistance project "Communications Regulatory Development" is funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and implemented by the consulting company Great Village International Consultants (GVIC) from Canada. It was launched in October 2009 for a two-year timeframe. The project goal is to provide assistance to the Agency in harmonizing the national regulatory practices with the European Union norms, in implementing a modern, transparent and predictable regulatory framework and in strengthening the institutional capacities of ANRCETI. Interested stakeholders wishing to attend are invited to register for participation. Contact: tel. 251-316, Mariana Braescu.
