ANRCETI taking part in Global Symposium of telecommunications Regulators

On November 10 - 12, a delegation of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI - www.anrceti.md) headed by Director, Mr. Sergiu Sitnic, is taking part in the 10th Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR10), held in Dakar, capital of Senegal. The event is organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in collaboration with the Regulatory Authority for Telecommunications and Post (ARTP) of Senegal.

The main objective of the Symposium – Enabling Tomorrow’s Digital World - is to discuss the key problems of the strategy for ICT sector development and regulation. According to the Agenda, during plenary meetings, the participants will focus on the tasks the regulators have to fulfill in order to enhance the process of broadband deployment in every country by applying efficient regulation tools, changing the role of regulators in a digital world, extending the regulatory tools to new segments, such as climate changes caused by ICT sector and cyber threats.

The delegation will also take part in two interactive workshops focused on ITU initiative on ensuring broadband access in schools: „Building on broadband” and „National School Connectivity Plans”.

The ITU has organized annual GSRs since 2000. The event brings together leaders of regulatory authorities from developed and developing countries and has become a worldwide forum where participants exchange views and experience. This event contributes to a closer open dialogue between regulators from all over the world with ICT stakeholders: private sector, investors and consumers.

The International Telecommunications Union is a specialized United Nations institution promoting communications development and standardization policies. 192 countries, over 700 ICT companies, standardization organizations and financial institutions make its membership. The Republic of Moldova has been an ITU Member since October 1992.
