National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology of the Republic of Moldova

The National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) announces that as of 1 August 2019 the 13xx short numbers will be available for public utility services provided by the contact points of the entities rendering such services: electricity, thermal energy, gas, water, sewerage, etc. The decision of the ANRCETI Administrative Board, approved in a public meeting on July 1, 2019, is intended to protect users against large charges invoiced for these services.

The purpose of the approved regulation is to boost the use of 13xx number block, in the interest of end-users, by making short numbers, easy to memorize, at affordable prices.

To this day, economic entities providing the mentioned services have used numbering resources from different blocks of geographic, non-geographic, mobile numbers, and these calls have been priced at national call rates. Given that such calls are typically long-lasting – the current invoiced tariffs are causing users' dissatisfaction.

Thus, all categories of users of publicly available telephone services will pay a tariff of maximum 0.15 lei/minute, excluding VAT, for a call made to an economic entity providing such services.
