In the third qtr. of 2022, the total number of mobile voice users increased by 8%, reaching over a little more than 5 mil., compared to the end of 2021, while the total volume of voice traffic they generated decreased by 6.7%, compared to the same period of last year and made a total of 1 bn. 564.4 mil. minutes. At the same time, the total volume of revenues of providers on this market increased by 2.1%, compared to the third qtr. of 2021, up to over 780 million lei.

According to the data reported to the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) by the providers of mobile communications services, the number of users of Moldtelecom increased by 15.8% and made up 694.2 thousand, the user base of Orange Moldova increased by 7.1% and equaled 2.6 million, and the user base Moldcell increased by 6.5% to a total of approximately 1.8 mil. users. Out of the total number of mobile voice users, over 4.2 mil are active users and 866.6 thousand - passive users. As a result of this evolution, the penetration rate of mobile voice services (active users), reported per 100 population, increased by 13.4 p.p., compared to the end of 2021, and made up 161.9%.

The same data show that the volume of traffic generated by users in their own networks decreased by 10.8% and reached 1.03 bn minutes, the volume of traffic generated towards fixed networks decreased by 12.2% and reached 59.2 mil. minutes, and the volume of traffic generated to other mobile networks increased by 3.8% and totaled 443.8 mil. minutes. As a result, the average monthly traffic (MoU) of minutes consumed by a user during the reporting period decreased by 18% and amounted to 238 minutes, and the average duration of a call was 2 minutes.

The average monthly revenue per user (ARPU) decreased by 10.1% down to 61.7 lei. Orange Moldova reported 72.3 lei ARPU, Moldtelecom - 50.3 lei and Moldcell - 50.1 lei.

The market shares of the three mobile voice service providers, by revenues, were as follows: Orange Moldova – 60.9%, Moldcell – 31% and Moldtelecom – 8.1%.
