Chisinau will host session of RCC Commission for coordination of activity of CIS telecommunications regulators

For the first time, on October 6, 2011, Chisinau will host the ordinary session of the Commission for coordination of activity of CIS telecommunications regulatory authorities of the Regional Commonwealth of Communications (RCC). The session is scheduled to take place following the regional seminar on broadband access, organized in Chisinau on October 4-6, by the International Telecommunications Union jointly with the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications. The session of the Commission is organized with the support of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) at ANRCETI office.

The agenda of the session includes a number of current issues regarding telecommunications market liberalization, creation and use of universal service fund, promotion of broadband universal access, licensing, consumer protection and service quality.

During the session, ANRCETI representatives will present the experience gained by the national regulator in terms of market liberalization, implementation of the general authorization regime, compliance of providers with service quality requirements.

The Regional Commonwealth of Communications (RCC) was created in December 1991 by national telecommunications administrations of the CIS countries for the purpose of inter-state coordination of postal and communications activities. The membership is 12 full-right members and 8 observers. The Commission for coordination of activity of CIS regulators has been working since 2007, pursuing the purpose of developing the cooperation and exchange of experience and information among regulators, as well as recommendations for increasing the efficiency of regulatory activity in this sector.
